FSBPT will offer NPTE-i (formerly NPTE-YRLY) two times in 2011 for PT candidates
The NPTE-i (formerly NPTE-YRLY) will be offered twice in 2011 for PT candidates: May and December. The NPTE-i is the alternative form of the National Physical Therapy Examination that is designated for candidates who received their first professional degree from Egypt, India, Pakistan or the Philippines (restricted countries). The creation of the NPTE-i was a result of pervasive, ongoing security breaches by significant numbers of graduates of physical therapy schools from the restricted countries.

The NPTE-i will be like all the other forms of the NPTE. The PT version will be 250 items and candidates will have five hours to complete the exam. The NPTE-i will provide a fair assessment of entry-level competence. It is being prepared using the same review procedures and will adhere to all of the same quality standards that apply to all other NPTE forms.

Plans for exam administration for 2012 for candidates in the restricted groups will be announced in 2011 but it is worth noting that the goal of FSBPT is to offer the NPTE-i at least twice during 2012.

We had a wonderful time at our reunion in Key West, FL. Its always a joy to see our PTs come back as well as interact with our new PTs. The ultimate adventure was a blast. Special Thanks to April and Sherly for coming. Even though you are not in OMS, it wouldn’t have been the same with out you. Hopefully you can also come to the next one in Vegas!!

Held scores will be released October 1, 2010 at the earliest
If you are from a restricted group* and tested after July 11, 2010, your scores have been held in order to complete a psychometric review. FSBPT expects scores will be released starting in early October.

* Candidates whose scores have been invalidated will receive a notice directly from FSBPT. The jurisdiction in which the candidate is seeking licensure will be notified of the cancellation. Those candidates may be eligible to take the NPTE-YRLY in 2011 if they continue to meet their states’ eligibility requirements.
* Candidates whose scores are valid will be reported to the appropriate jurisdiction licensing authority. Candidates will be notified by their jurisdiction of their pass/fail status. Candidates whose scores are valid but have failed the exam may be eligible to take the NPTE-YRLY in 2011 if they continue to meet their states’ eligibility requirements.

*Graduate with a first-professional physical therapy degree from a school in Egypt, India, Pakistan or the Philippines.

Congratulations Joan O.!!!! We are so happy that we were able to get you your green card so quickly. We just got in the receipts and now we have the notification that it is approved. Congratulations again!

Discrimination Against Foreign Physical Therapists

Please make sure you put your complete name on the petition and not just a first name. Also anyone can sign the petition, it does not need to be a Physical Therapist. Anyone who agress that this is discriminating against India, Philippines, Egypt and Pakistan may sign. For it to be effective we will need many signatures. I saw a lot of Pts outraged by this on the forum but thats not effective. Make a stand and get everyone involved.
